Laporte rings the changes

Thursday 27th September 2007

France coach Bernard Laporte has made nine changes to the side that beat Ireland 25-3 for Sunday's clash with Georgia in Marseille.

Staying true to his rotational policy, Laporte fields what amounts to a half-strength side, giving the likes of Frédéric Michalak, Jean-Baptiste Elissalde, Sébastien Chabal and Vincent Clerc a well-earned rest.

Meanwhile, there is a start for Sale Sharks hooker Sébastien Bruno, the only player not to have been named since the beginning of the World Cup.

There's also a spot in the XV for Stade Français tyro Lionel Beauxis, who came on as a replacement when France defeated Namibia and Ireland.

Scrum-half Pierre Mignoni and wing Christophe Dominici, both relegated to the stand since the loss to Argentina in the tournament's opening game, are also named in the starting XV.

With Raphaël Ibañez also rested, Biarritz flank Serge Betsen will again captain the side.

The hosts know that a bonus-point win over the Lelos will be enough to see them through to the quarter-finals.
